Livingstone MP admits to refurbishment claims

MP Jim Devine has admitted to having 2 refurbishments in 1 year.

He was deselected in June because of allegations that accused him of claiming £2,157 for having his flat in London rewired, of which he gave a faux VAT receipt and company name.

He claims that he had the 2 refurbishments due to redecoration the first time and the second was after his house flooded.

Devine is also facing questioning over another claim of over £2000 for having shelves put up by his local pub landlord.

The MP didn’t respond to the Daily Telegraph’s questions. He actually claimed £23,658.72 in 2008-09 using his Additional Costs Allowance, which includes expenses for running a second home.
